Why did the Cold War start?
The could war started because of very different beliefs and ideology. It became capitalism versus communism. The Cold War competitive dispute between the United States and the Soviet Union, which had lasted for a great portion of the second half of the 20th century, resulted in reciprocal suspicions, increased tensions and multiple international disturbances that brought the world’s powers to the face of catastrophe.
What Happened During The Cold War, And How Did It Affect The US?
The Soviet Union was a group of communists. Ideally in the United States, capitalism had joined with democracy. Americans believed that one coincided with the other. The Soviet Union was an all communist group, and wanted to continue to spread communism to all countries.Communism quickly expanded from the U.S.S.R. into Asia. On June 25th 1950, the communist country of North Korea invaded South Korea. During this time in the United States, Americans were fearful of the communists in their own country. Senator Joseph Raymond McCarthy led the campaign accusing many U.S. citizens of being soviet spies.
There were two Red Scare periods. The first occurred after World War I and the Russian Revolution. The second occurred during the Cold War after World War II. "Red" came from the Soviet flag and the spreading of anti-communism the United State. and the the word "Scare" came from when people were scared that communism would spread to the U.S. During the second Red Scare communism was affected by Eastern Europe and China. People were scared that it could interfere with the United States.

After the war the economy started spending less on the war budget and focusing on other things.
The United States had more of a market economy and the Soviet Union had more of a command economy. In the Soviet Union the government were the ones to make all the decisions about everything. The government decided what to produce, how to produce, and who to produce it for. In the United States, businesses and individual consumers decide what to produce, and who they're producing it for. `
Market economies are extremely useful. It persuaded people to produce a lot of outstanding products. |
